Samguk Yusa 삼국유사 三國遺事
Samguk Yusa also known as “Memorabilia of the Three Kingdoms”, is a collection of legends, folktales, and historical accounts relating to the Three Kingdoms of Goguryeo, Baekje and Silla, as well as to other periods and states before, during, and after the Three Kingdoms period.
Samguk Yusa was written by Il-Yeon, (Birth name Gyeon-Myeon 견명).Il-Yeon started to write the book in 1281 at the age of 75. Consisting of five volumes and nine chapters, the book has chronologies of the three kingdoms, the Gaya kingdom, Post-Goguryeo and Post-Baekje. It also describes the process of introducing Buddhism to the three kingdoms as well as the stories of Buddhist monks, pagodas and the statues of the Buddha.
